Garden Attendant (Residential Services)
Job Description
Start Corporation’s Residential Services department is looking for a part-time garden attendant to assist in establishing and maintaining a vegetable garden for it's transitional housing programs!
Minimum Requirements
Basic understanding of vegetable gardening principles.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather, lift up to 40lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
Attention to detail, reliability, and a love for plants.
Core Competencies
Communicate respectfully and effectively and establish professional relationships.
Accurately identifies risk and responds appropriately.
Maintains professional boundaries and operates within agency /ethical guidelines.
Knowledge of agency and community resources and referral processes.
Job Duties/Skills Required
Planting & Maintenance: Sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and removing weeds.
Pest & Disease Control: Monitoring for issues and applying organic or approved treatments.
Harvesting: Picking ripe vegetables for distribution.
Garden Upkeep: Soil preparation, composting, mulching, and general clean-up.
Support: Assisting with irrigation, setting up supports (like stakes for tomatoes), and managing compost.
