Job Description

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse will provide behavioral and/or primary health care services including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, for a diverse population of Start Corporation clients in Thibodaux, LA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced clinical license as a Nurse Practitioner  

  • Be over 18 years of age  

  • Possess a valid driver's license

  • Provides primary and/or behavioral health care services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment.   

  • Prescribes and manages medications.  

  • Communicates respectfully and effectively and establishes professional relationships through active listening and demonstration of empathy and positive regard.  

  • Promotes recovery, independence, and personal choice for participants. 

  • Assists clients in identifying strengths, needs, and realistic goals to develop a treatment plan. 

  • Accurately identifies risk and responds appropriately, and provides consultation to peers regarding high-risk situations and appropriate interventions. 

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of primary and behavioral health symptoms, diagnoses, interventions, and impact.  

  • Maintains professional boundaries and operates within ethical guidelines.   

  • Knowledge of agency and community resources and referral processes.

Job Duties/Skills Required

  • Provides clinic and community-based services as appropriate.  

  • Provides effective, research-based recovery based services.  

  • Establishes service plans and treatment goals based on accurate assessment and diagnosis.  

  • Completes clinical documentation accurately and at the time of the services.  

  • Fully utilizes approved electronic health record.

  • Collects data in the required format to comply with all funding sources, accreditation, or other regulatory agencies.  

  • Coordinates referrals to other agencies and specialists as indicated by patient need.  

  • Maintains a clear driving record in order to be able to drive company vehicles when necessary.   

  • Attends weekly and/or monthly staff meetings.  

  • May assist with clinical consultation, clinical review, or auditing of clinical records.  

  • Provides direct clinical services at the advanced, independent practitioner level using approved interventions and completing necessary documentation to receive payment from insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.  Supervises other staff as directed.
